Itinerary to visit Ellora And Ajanta Caves

For visiting Ajanta and Ellora caves you need only 2 days of stay in Aurangabad.

Day 1: Visit Ajanta Caves, which is 110 km from Aurangabad, you can visit only Ajanta caves in a day because on the way to caves there is no sightseeing places to visit other than Ajanta caves. So don’t push yourself to cover other places on 1 st day.

Day 2: You can visit more than 6 places because few places are in the city and other places are nearby Aurangabad,

Start your day after having breakfast around 8 in the morning, head to Ellora Caves to explore sculptures and paintings and rock-cut oldest caves, After visiting Ellora caves head back to Aurangabad. On the way to Aurangabad you can visit Daultabad Fort and Aurangzeb Tomb.

When you come back in the city you can see Bibi Ka Maqbara – Panchakki and Aurangabad caves. The time you need to visit all places is between 7 to 8 hours.

Transportation

Ajanta Caves

Bus : they are best frequency of buses from Aurangabad central bus stand,  you can get bus every 15 minutes from morning 7 to 13 pm. Cost by bus is Rs.135/- only

Private Car : You can book private car for your trip, that cost you between Rs.2000 to 2500/- depends from which tours and travels you are using to book you car and vehicle type.

Ellora Caves and Sightseeing 

Bus : Many bus runs on that route from central bus stand of Aurangabad, you can get a bus every 10 minutes for Ellora caves and ticket cost you Rs.38/- only, after visiting caves you can get shared taxi for daultabad fort which is on the way of Aurangabad that will cost you Rs.15/-. After Daultabad you can get bus again for central bus of Aurangabad then hire auto for Bibi Ka Maqbara and other two places (Panchhaki and Aurangabad Caves ) that would cost you between Rs. 100 to 150 /- per auto.

Private Car : Hiring a private car for Ellora and sightseeing recommended because you will save lots of time, which you can use to see places in depth. A taxi will cost you between Rs 1500 to 1800 for all places including taxes.

English Speaking Guides

At Ajanta caves and Ellora caves there are guides available at the entrance point of caves, all guides is govt approved with their licence of guide. They have to charge a certain amount under govt of India guidelines.

For between 1-4 persons Rs.500/-

For 5-8 persons Rs.800/-

You must know timing / closed days and entrance fees before you go, all entrance fees have to pay in cash.

Ajanta Caves : Opens 8:00 Am to 5:00 Pm, and closed on Mondays,
Entrance fees for Indian nationals Rs.30/- For other nationalities tourist Rs.500/-

Ellora Caves : Opens 8:00 Am to 5:00 Pm, and closed on every Tuesdays.

Bibi Ka Maqbara: Opens 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, Open all days,

Entrance fees for Indian nationals Rs.10/- For other nationalities tourist Rs.100/-

Daultabad Fort: Opens 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, open all days,
